Rodent Control – Mice and Rat Removal
Mice and rats are the most common pest problem we treat in Toronto homes and condos. They move indoors as the weather cools, breed quickly, chew through wiring and food packaging, and leave droppings that can carry disease. We are a licensed, locally owned pest control company serving Toronto, the GTA, and Barrie. Every very visit is handled in a plain, unmarked vehicle — your neighbours won’t know we were there.

Rodents we treat
- House mice — the most common rodent call we get. Small (7–10 cm body), grey-brown, and able to squeeze through a gap the width of a pencil.
- Norway rats — large (20–25 cm body), brown, heavy-bodied. They burrow under decks, sheds, and garages and travel through sewer lines.
- Roof rats — less common in Toronto than Norway rats, but we do see them. Smaller, darker, and stronger climbers; they prefer attics, rooflines, and upper floors.
If you’re not sure what you have, send us a photo of the droppings or the damage when you book — we can usually tell from that.

Signs you have a rodent problem
- Droppings along baseboards, inside cupboards, under the sink, or in the back of the pantry. Mouse droppings look like dark grains of rice; rat droppings are roughly the size of a raisin.
- Gnaw marks on food packaging, cardboard, baseboards, or the corners of drywall.
- Grease rub marks — dark smudges along walls and floor edges where rodents travel the same route repeatedly.
- Shredded nesting material — insulation, paper, fabric — tucked behind appliances, in storage boxes, or inside wall cavities.
- A musky, ammonia-like smell, especially in enclosed spaces like under-sink cabinets or basement storage rooms.
- Scratching or scurrying sounds in walls, ceilings, or above a drop ceiling, usually at night.
- Unusual pet behaviour — a cat or dog fixated on a wall, vent, or appliance is often the first clue.

Why rodents come inside
Rodents aren’t a cleanliness issue. They’re looking for three things: warmth, food, and a safe place to nest. Toronto’s older housing stock — brick semis, century homes, low-rise condos with shared walls — has plenty of small gaps around utility lines, vents, foundation cracks, and garage door corners. Once one mouse finds a way in, more follow the scent trail.
Mice can have a litter every three weeks. A small problem becomes a serious one in a month or two if it isn’t dealt with.
What our rodent service includes
- Interior and exterior inspection. We walk the property and identify active runs, droppings, nesting sites, and entry points.
- Treatment. A combination of tamper-resistant bait stations, snap traps, and (where appropriate) interior monitoring stations — placed out of reach of children and pets.
- Entry-point recommendations. We show you exactly where rodents are getting in and what needs to be sealed. We can handle exclusion work ourselves or give you a written list to pass to a contractor.
- Follow-up visit. Included on most jobs to confirm activity has stopped and to refresh bait or remove traps.
- Warranty. Standard warranty on residential rodent work — if activity returns within the warranty window, we come back at no charge.
Discreet, unmarked service vehicles
Pest control is personal. We don’t park a wrapped truck out front, we don’t wear branded uniforms to the door, and we don’t leave flyers behind. Every technician arrives in a plain, unmarked vehicle, in plain clothes, and we treat the visit the way you would a private contractor — quietly. This matters in condo buildings, semi-detached homes, and tight downtown streets where neighbours notice everything.
How to prepare for the visit
- Clear under-sink cabinets and pull stored items away from the back wall of the pantry so we can inspect.
- Pick up any pet food bowls and store kibble in sealed containers.
- Let us know about young children, pets, or anyone with allergies before we arrive.
- If you’ve already put down store-bought bait or traps, leave them in place and tell the technician — it helps us read the activity.
Why store-bought products usually fall short
Hardware-store snap traps and bait pellets can knock down one or two visible mice, but they rarely solve the underlying problem. They don’t address the entry points, they don’t account for how rodents actually move through a building, and rodenticides sold to the public are far weaker than the regulated products licensed technicians use. Most of the “we tried everything ourselves first” calls we get could have been resolved in a single professional visit.

FAQs
How do I know if it’s mice or rats?
Size of the droppings is the fastest tell. Mouse droppings are small and grain-like; rat droppings are noticeably larger, around the size of a raisin. Send us a photo when you book and we’ll confirm.
Is the treatment safe around pets and kids?
Yes. We use tamper-resistant bait stations that pets and children can’t open, and we place interior traps in spots they can’t access — behind appliances, inside cabinets, in utility rooms. Tell us about your household when you book so we can plan placement.
How long until the problem is gone?
Most residential mouse jobs are resolved within two to three weeks, including the follow-up visit. Larger rat problems or properties with significant entry-point work can take longer.
Will my neighbours know you were here?
No. Unmarked vehicle, plain clothes, no signage, no flyers. We’ve designed the service around discretion.
Do I need to seal the entry points myself?
We’ll show you exactly where they are and what to use. We can do the exclusion work for you, or you can handle it yourself or with a contractor – depending on the situation. Sealing entry points is what keeps the problem from coming back.
What is the warranty?
Standard residential rodent work is guaranteed — if activity returns within the warranty window, we come back at no additional charge. We’ll confirm the exact terms in writing on the quote.
